“Dispatch! This is Foxtrot Four-oh-one. Come in, Dispatch.”

“Dispatch here. Go ahead, Foxtrot.”

“I’m at the west-side stairwell on level twenty-nine. Officer down.”

“Roger that. Calling a medic now.”

“Negative on that medic. Dispatch a technician. It’s Daisy-40V3R. She’s been deactivated.”

Daisy? A damned mutt? These officers got far too attached to their robotic fleabags.

“Acknowledged,” sighed Dispatch. “Have you sighted the intruder in the stairwell?”

“Negative.”

“Then he might have doubled back. Bravo Two-nine-four’s team is en route up the stairwell now. Await them and continue covering level twenty-nine.”

“But he might have gone up the stairs.”

“Unlikely,” replied Dispatch. “That leads to the roof and there’s no other way off there.”

“Nonetheless,” replied Foxtrot. “No harm checking. En route now.”

“Roger that.”
